The Green Baker Lodge is located on the world famous Rio Baker in Southern Chilean Patagonia. As a five star lodge and restaurant that hosts clients from all over the world.
This river showcases what brown trout can accomplish genetically when left alone in the mountains in pure glacial water. The Baker averages brown trout in the 21-23 inch range with mature fish commonly reaching the 28 inch mark.
The Rio Baker is a massive, powerful glacial river that begins 3 kilometers above the lodge in the treacherous Rapidos del Baker. The river pounds through this first canyon as massive category 4 rapids entering into the main stem of the river. The main branch of the Rio Baker is covered in structure, boulders and gravel bars. The river is famous for its huge hydraulics (whirlpools) at each bend of the river as it loses more altitude coming through the valley. After it’s confluence with the Rio Nef and multiple other glacier tributaries it travels another 70 kilometer to drain into the Pacific. Because of this river’s speed and volume, catarafts are mostly used to properly fish the river.
